Projektbeschreibung
For more than 15 years the structural engineers from IMd and architects from Ector Hoogstad work together on various large scale developments. When IMd found an abandoned steel factory for their new HQ, Ector Hoogstad Architecten transformed the building into a ‘playground for engineers’. A series of climatized pavilions, housing the more than 70 workstations and meeting rooms, were placed throughout the atmospheric hall and linked on the first floor with various bridges. The ‘inbetween’ space forms the social heart of IMd HQ with a stage staircase, herb garden, lounge and informal meeting areas. The concept of climatizing only the workspaces and leaving the steel framework intact resulted in a highly sustainable and atmospheric building with a limited budget.
