Erläuterungstext

The idea of the architectural solution of the terminal building is based on objective reality and the vision of the future, i.e.
  • to keep the brutalist image of the constructive solution of the existing warehouse and its preservation,
  • of the planned use of the building as a passenger terminal and a multifunctional cultural and business center,
  • the phasing of building construction,
  • the influence of the building on the development of modern urban space image.

Based on these objectives, the following has been proposed:
  • use two constructive openings from the river side of the existing building, 24 m wide and 120 m long for the construction of a passenger terminal - CONSTRUCTION PHASE I,
  • use two constructive openings on the land side of the existing building, 12 - 24 m wide and 120 m long for the construction of a multifunctional culture and business center - CONSTRUCTION PHASE II

The division of the existing building volume along the building is based on the following points of view:
  • to use the entire part of the building on the river side for the needs of the passenger terminal and connect it with the outdoor areas along the square into a well-functioning complex,
  • to use the entire part of the building on the land side for the construction for a multifunctional uses that interacts with the urban space and shapes the environment.

The longitudinal arrangement of the different functions of the building ensures the active use of the public areas in front of the building even when the terminal is not working.

A gallery with high greenery has been designed between the two parts of the building, where the windows of the terminal waiting hall and offices of the terminal, as well as the entrances and windows of the rooms of the multifunctional center will be open.
