The simple, elegant earthen construction with its selected decorations integrates into the surrounding archaeological site without denying the modern approach. The Nubian vaults are emphasising this general new appearance as they are not part of the local building tradition of the Meroe area. The inside of the protective shelter promises a rich visitor experience, although the inner exhibition room is not spacious and a circuit around the water basin is not envisaged. Unfortunately the climate buffer zone is dividing the inner exhibition space thus disturbing the view between the main ancient remains – the water basin and the row of seats.
The traditional construction techniques of the protective shelter can be realised with local materials and local craftsmanship, but one has to keep in mind, that consistent easy‐care maintenance will be necessary.
